      We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join us working in a busy general practice as part of our dedicated clinical team along with friendly and supportive Clinical and administrative staff.

      Main duties of the job

      Job description

      Duties and responsibilities include:

      • New patient health checks.
      • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
      • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate and record findings accurately.
      • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
      • Act as a chaperone as required.
      • Undertake venepuncture.
      • Administer vaccinations.
      • Carry out ECGs as requested.
      • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
      • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
      • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance.
      • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy.
      • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.

      Essential and Desirable criteria

      Essential

      • 6 months experience of working as a HCA
      • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
      • Good communications skills (written and oral)
      • Time management and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment
      • Ability to remain calm when working under pressure
      • Good IT skills
      • Healthcare Qualification (Level 2) or working towards gaining equivalent level
      • Phlebotomy Certification

      Desirable

      • Knowledge of System 1
      • Healthcare Qualification (Level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
