Ensure all activities follow regulatory, safety and environmental compliance
Collaborate to design, implement, and improve drilling programs
Research and implement innovative methods to increase production and reduce costs through Engineering techniques and operational design
Monitor cost performance and cycle times to improve program efficiencies
Collaborate with supply chain on procurement activity
Liaise with field personnel to maintain project efficiency, from planning to look backs
Collaborate with completions and production Engineering to increase value for the well cycle
Contribute to drilling knowledge sharing within team
Responsibility and support for drilling planning activities spanning different areas in the delineation program
Occasionally support in other areas of the Cenovus portfolio (SAGD, CHO, Deep Basin, etc)
Execute program activities such as define well objectives, risk reviews, cost estimates, Basis of Designs for casing and cement, technical service selection, Drilling Program, and project lookbacks
Supporting Drilling Operations during field activities to ensure well objectives are met while achieving continuous improvement for time and cost efficiency
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Eligibility for enrollment in APEGA
2 - 5 years’ experience in Engineering with background in current drilling operations and technology
Experience in Deep Basin, SAGD, thermal and/or heavy oil drilling is beneficial
Demonstrate knowledge in Drilling Engineering skills
Demonstrate judgment, analytical, leadership and business skills
Proven ability to work effectively within multi-disciplined teams
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Entrepreneurial attitude, high motivation, and good communication skills

The Drilling Department has an opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training to join the team. A technical background in Drilling Engineering/operations is required, with project management skills being a definite asset. As a key member of the Drilling Engineering group, you will be directly involved all planning activities until project is drill-ready and then supporting Drilling Operations when field activities are occurring.
