      With Fraud and Cyber-crime accounting for more than 40% of all crime in England and Wales, WMP has its own Economic Crime Unit (ECU) which is dedicated to tackling Fraud and Cyber-crime. Our focus is reducing offending and safeguarding vulnerable victims. If you too share this focus we are looking for capable and passionate volunteers to support our Protect Team / Economic Crime Victim Care Unit; where you will help in educating and safeguarding members of the public against Economic Crime.

      Why we need your help:

      We are looking for the support of volunteers to deliver Fraud and Cyber Protect advice to the local community. The role will include working closely with schools, colleges, and universities to deliver awareness sessions. You will work closely with the Regional Economic Crime Unit to learn the different inputs that are delivered to the local community.

      We are looking for a team of enthusiastic volunteers to assist us with any of the following:

      • Proactively reduce the number of victims of Fraud & Cyber Crime within the West Midlands.

      • Host and present Fraud & Cyber-crime awareness presentations to our communities, including: Schools, Colleges, Universities and Businesses with differing audience sizes.

      • Organise and host crime prevention stands within the community.

      • Create crime prevention materials designed to raise awareness of the key threats and trends.

      We are looking for volunteers to commit at least 16 hours per month ideally for a minimum of 6 months. Time and date to be agreed with the department supporting the volunteer

      Skills and Experience
      • Experience creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations
      • Looking for experience in content creation and or public speaking
      • Friendly and approachable
      • Good communications skills & a good level of written and spoken English
      • Reliable with good time-keeping skills
      • Happy to work independently or as part of a team
      • Attention to detail and good observational skills
      • Administration skills (Microsoft Office, Internet)


      Essential information:

      • Applicants are considered on their merits and regarded equally

      • For relevant roles, we will apply for an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check – having a criminal record isn’t a barrier to volunteering, this is simply to protect children/vulnerable people we work with
      • Where appropriate, volunteers should use public transport. We will cover travel expenses to a maximum daily limit of a 1 day network Zones 1-5 Unlimited regional bus*, tram and train travel within the specified West Midlands rail zones
      • Mileage will be in reimbursed at 45p per mile using the Michelin guide
      • Volunteers are eligible to claim £5.00 towards their lunch if they volunteer over 4 hours on given day.
