What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist the Biology Editor in signing, developing, and publishing books in biology
- Manage the biology list, including coordinating peer reviews and preparing project budgets
- Prepare and track contracts, ensuring data integrity for a large pipeline of projects
- Conduct research as needed and facilitate communication within the organization
- Support strategic implementation of equity and inclusion goals for the publishing list
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 1 year experience in acquisitions editorial within book publishing
- Strong and versatile communication skills for in-person and written interactions
- Demonstrable time-management and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Computer proficiency, including databases and Microsoft Office
- Current legal authorization to work in the U.S.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Interest in science and scholarly publishing
- Degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
- Experience with advocacy skills and collaborative work environments
