SUMMARY: The Education Specialist is responsible for the institutional and educational processes within the School of EMS. Their duties include student success, remediation and improvement.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the Academic Resource Center and coordinates the student success program.
Designs and issues performance improvements plans to students and monitors compliance.
Assists Education Manager in monitoring primary instructor and TA activity on Canvas and participates in teaching or grading activities as needed.
Evaluates, recommends, and implements changes to work methods and procedures that increase efficiency.
Anticipates and tracks initial dates, events, and associated action items, follows up with appropriate parties on behalf of the supervisor to ensure deadlines are met.
Organizes and completes special projects.
Collects data and creates reports as directed by the Education Manager or Director as it pertains to all facets of the School of EMS.
Works cooperatively with other members of the faculty and staff to contribute to overall institutional effectiveness.
Utilizes talents, academic background, and strong personal qualities to serve the best interests of students and the School of EMS.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Education: - Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience: - At least three (3) years of field-level professional experience in a pre-hospital setting with an ALS provider (as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic)
- Prior teaching or training experience (Preceptor, FTO, Instructor, or equivalent)
- Prior experience in an administrative setting
- Functional computer literacy
- Functional working knowledge of Office365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience with multi-faceted network related software and database management systems
- Experience multi-tasking with the ability to manage competing demands, set priorities and provide timely responses to urgent issues
-Experience problem-solving
-Experience adapting to new conditions and assignments
-Experience in customer service building strong relationships to be able to interact with students, staff and the public in a pleasant, tactful, courteous manner. Prior experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: -Paramedic certification/licensure in at least one state where School of EMS operates OR Current National Registry
-State Driver License
-State EMS instructor license preferred
-AHA or NAEMT Instructor certifications preferred
Language Ability: Must exhibit the ability to read, analyze, and interpret education-related material. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures as they relate to teaching certain topics within the EMS curriculum.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the use of audio-visual equipment.
