      Job summary

      The Band 7 Elderly care physio is responsible for managing and leading a team of physios , physio technicians and students within our 3 Elderly care wards. They will be working alongside the wider MDT comprising of AHP's , Nurses and Medics .

      Main duties of the job

      • To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations of medical pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition
      • Formulate and deliver a physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills
      • Provide specialist expertise for managing and treating patients with more complex medical conditions
      • Formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans taking into account complex psycho social problems
      • Assess patient understanding of treatment, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment
      • Represent physiotherapy service and /or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings, to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service, and integrate physiotherapy treatment into the treatment programme. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning.
