      SEL Engineering Service's Government Engineering Solutions group is looking for you to join our group as an Engineering Intern. Our group focuses on the creation of microgrids and electrical distribution upgrades for SEL's government clients. As part of this position you'll get exposure to a large swath of engineering topics including power systems analysis and protection, substation and distribution automation and control, and communication systems, both ethernet and serial based. Due to the nature of our clients, we are looking for exclusively US citizens to fill this position.       Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      1. Engineering drawing and document reading.

      2. Power system protection analysis and reporting.

      3. Automation Controller programming and configuration.

      4. Electronic Relay programming and configuration.

      5. Networked communication system and non-networked communications systems configuration and topology analysis.

      6. Provide technical support to SEL staff & customers.
      7. Develop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.
      8. Perform testing on new and existing technology.
      9. Document and communicate test results.
      10. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
      11. Understand. Create. Simplify.
      12. Other duties as assigned.

      Required Qualifications
      Experience in programming and script files

      Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems

      Practical knowledge of ethernet and serial based communications

      Practical knowledge of automation controllers and data acquisition

      Ability to use MS Windows and serial port terminal emulation software
      Practical knowledge of SEL protective relays & automation controllers
      Ability to use Microsoft Visio
      Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
      Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
      Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
      Background check results satisfactory to SEL
      Negative drug test result(s)
