Position Summary: Support all manufacturing, build and process development groups through machine design and process improvement activities relating to all aspects of machine controls and automation.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
General -- Applies to all Electrical Engineers
* Design and implement PLC/Operator interface programs using GE-Fanuc and Allen-Bradley software, or other company specific software as needed.
* Design and integrate controls ranging from complete systems to simple process improvements. Specify the parts and wiring methods for electrical projects or installations. Schedule and manage projects to meet production demands.
* Design electrical schematics including 480V - 3 Phase distributions, safety systems, communication wiring and low voltage signal diagrams using CAD software.
* Apply knowledge of automation devices such as: variable speed drives, sensors, servos, interfaces, I/O actuators, vision inspection etc. to machine controls and processes.
* Update electrical schematics and process revisions to machine control systems.
* Apply knowledge of robotic controls and programming, specifically Fanuc robotic systems. Aid in applying basic welding knowledge to achieve weld quality and efficiency.
* Responsible for safety in process design and in execution of daily activities.
* Ensure compliance of practices, procedures and instructions relative to applicable corporate standards (ISO, TS, etc).
* Ensure quality outputs from daily activities.
o Use of proper data collection and analysis to ensure provided information is supported with data that reinforces the stated output.
o Coordinate/facilitate/analyze process design of experiments (DOE's).
* Ensure timely execution of planned activities.
* Provide process design and improvements in a cost efficient manner.
* Proficient in completing cost justifications with acceptable ROI.
* Foster good working relationship and demonstrate effective communication skills with vendors, team members, suppliers and project teams.
* Lead mid-sized projects while independently developing project approach; receive minimal supervision.
* Understand the impact of one's decisions on other areas of the business.
* Demonstrate an interest in personal and professional lifelong learning and development.
* Demonstrate a proven ability to use scientific method for problem solving of complex problems.

Launch & Manufacturing Support
* Support manufacturing production by leading troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.
* Support plant problem solving teams to ensure the production of quality parts and a safe working environment.
* Provide on-call support for all manufacturing processes in order to meet customer demands, when necessary.
* Conduct safety risk assessments on new equipment and all equipment annually. Troubleshoot ergonomic issues and facilitate countermeasures.
* Develop work instructions for machines and production operations.
* Review, update and implement safety, process and continuous improvement suggestions generated by the associates.
* Lead Process Failure Mode Effects & Analysis (PFMEA) development meetings.
* Develop maturation plans and timelines in accordance with risk mitigation strategies.
* Lead activities to launch new business and execute the maturation process.
* Participate in regular launch team meetings.
* Lead technical solutions and provide input and support for tool designs and development.
* Participate in Process Failure Mode Effects & Analysis (PFMEA) development meetings.
* Provide the specification for and procure capital needed to support new business.
* Communicate and share information with peers to ensure launching practices are standard.
* Continuously challenge maturation activities and identify opportunities to reduce maturation time.
Process Advancement
* Lead strategic process advancement projects ("Funnel Projects").
* Develop project charter with defined milestone dates, including anticipated cost and timing.
* Execute funnel projects and successfully meet cost and timing targets.
* Develop specifications for new capital equipment.
* Identify new technology, develop expertise and industry knowledge in relevant processes and communicate to the organization as necessary.
