POSITION SUMMARY: Consults and supports internal and external stakeholders in creating graphic designs for print, digital, advertising, branding and illustrations by designing, redrawing, typesetting, and laying out publications including, but not limited to, flyers, posters, booklets, forms, brochures, logos, web banners, etc. This position reports to the Printing Operations Supervisor. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborates directly with customers and other colleagues involved in the project. Incorporates and translates text, pictures, and ideas into a design to produce a visual concept that inspires, informs, and captivates the audience. Applies graphic design skills and knowledge of various concepts (layout, graphic fundamentals, typography, copyright laws, and branding) during the execution of various projects. Proofreads design publications before emailing to customers for approval and for production. Uploads and saves artwork files as a backup onto the server for departmental access. Ensures projects and artwork are designed and maintained with a consistent high-quality branded appearance that meets Clayton County Public Schools standards and the customers’ needs for all publication materials. Assists in production areas including copier, bindery, padding, etc. and in the front office area (answering phones and assisting customers) as needed. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services. KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in the printing industry required. Makes recommendations which affect internal operations of the department, schools, and the District. Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an as-needed basis to establish operation of the office. Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel within department. Exhibits excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Experience needed conveying information clearly, consistently, and accurately. Must be detail-oriented and possess strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines is needed. Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), QuarkXPress, etc. using MAC and PC based computers systems. Normal office setting. Must adhere to safety guidelines of the Print Shop at all times. NOTE: This is a grade 20, 225 day position that does not pay for experience.About the company
