Lee County is seeking a motivated individual who is extremely client-focused and team oriented to assist Lee County residents applying for financial assistance to prevent homelessness and utility disconnection.

• Responsible for determining eligibility for assistance, processing payment documentation and communicating with utility companies, landlords and mortgage companies.
• Analyzes and reviews documents, reviews applications for accuracy and advises applicant when more documentation is needed.
• Will be assigned specific cases and will be responsible for follow-up until completion.
• Performs moderately complex clerical and administrative support tasks involving some independent judgement, under the supervision of seasoned staff.
• Determines eligibility by applying local, state and federal policies.
• Maintains documents, files, and record retrieval systems.

• Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent and two years of experience in professional customer service, human services, and social sciences or closely related field. (Relevant years of education beyond high school graduation can be substituted for year of relevant experience).
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.

The successful candidate will have:

• The ability to communicate effectively to a diverse population with excellent customer service and communication skills
• The ability to handle stressful situations while remaining calm and empathetic towards the customer.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to professionally navigate through difficult conversations.
• Computer literacy and excellent data entry skills. Strong mathematical skills needed.
• Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole is strongly preferred.

The work days and hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am -5:00pm.
