      Req#: 35305

The ideal candidate will move quickly into technical oversight of ongoing electronics analog/mixed signal hardware design efforts across multiple embedded hardware development initiatives. The position will have cross functional responsibilities, primarily focused on creating analog/mixed signal PCB schematics, layout, BOM’s and wiring harness design. As part of day-to-day responsibilities, the individual is expected to create new designs for upcoming technologies while concurrently supporting existing deployed solutions. Programming/scripting experience in the embedded domain will be a plus. This is a hybrid work environment position. The candidate will be expected to work onsite for a 3-4 days per week and to effectively collaborate when working remotely.

      Qualifications

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant industry experience in electronics circuit design and board layout.
      • 5+ years of experience and a deep understanding and demonstrated ability to design high speed analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics circuits.
      • 5+ years of experience and a high level of knowledge in use of EDA CAD PCB design software to create schematic and layouts for digital/mixed signal circuit elements. Candidate should be able to demonstrate (via experience) ability to create board layouts for high-speed mixed signal schematics and layouts.
      • 5+ years of experience and a high level of knowledge with generation of BOM and Gerber files etc. to develop part symbols footprints etc. for BGA/Surface mount and through hole components.
      • 5+ years of experience and a high level of knowledge in routing single / multi-layer PCBs with impedance-controlled, blind / buried vias, differential signal pairs, matching length traces etc.
      • 5+ years of experience and a high level of knowledge designing interfaces across analog and digital peripherals for embedded micro-controllers/FPGAs/GPUs.
      • 5+ years of experience and a high level of knowledge in power circuit analysis, such as worst-case circuit analysis, failure mode analysis for system reliability.
      • Proficient with signal integrity and medium/high-speed time and frequency domain testing using oscilloscopes and signal analyzers.
      • Ability to perform hand soldering / electrotechnical rework for circuit boards and wiring harnesses
      • Familiarity with existing electronics industry supply chains, material sourcing/manufacturing of PCB components etc.
      • Exposure to product pre/post launch support and end of life product life cycle is expected.
      • Some exposure to programming/scripting in C/C++/Python/bash.
      • Understanding of PCB layout and circuit design requirements for low speed (I2C/UART) and high speed (PCIe, LVDS) is expected.

      Preferred Requirements:

      • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant industry experience in electronics circuit design and board layout.
      • Driven to deliver results with outstanding quality.
      • The ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact in a diversely skilled team (core software/embedded/model-based design).
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to work effectively to deliver on commitments in a timely manner.
      • Reliability, independence, and sound judgment in prioritizing work with excellent initiative and follow-through.
      • Possess a self-motivated, diligent work ethic with the ability to be an effective mentor.

      Responsibilities

      • Design state-of-the-art embedded hardware incorporating complex analog and mixed signal circuits for microcontroller/FPGA based embedded electronics.
      • Lead conception and development of high-speed mixed signal electronic products (defining topology, schematic, components selection etc.) and defining PCB layout strategies.
      • Leverage PCB design tools to design and validate hardware/software configurations for upcoming design ideas and define product specifications to meet customer needs.
      • Research product standards and requirements for state-of-the-art technologies, drive component selection and benchmark competitive products.
      • Review component and hardware documentation (bill of materials, schematics, drawings, datasheets, and notes etc.) from suppliers to perform analysis/design feasibility.
      • Create design documentation throughout the product lifecycle including but not limited to product ideations, prototyping, manufacturing and post launch test and support.
      • Create and execute electrical test plans for design verification, support performance characterization of new designs in a cross functional role.
