What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze and implement efficient coding and billing processes for emergency department services
- Serve as a subject matter expert in emergency medicine coding and billing, resolving complex billing issues
- Liaise between providers and coding groups to ensure timely processing and compliance
- Develop and lead educational sessions for emergency department providers on compliant documentation and coding
- Produce reports analyzing coding queues and reconciliation of visits for effective billing practices

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or GED, or an Associate’s degree in a related healthcare field
- Minimum of three years specialized professional coding experience in clinical specialty areas
- Elevated knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles
- Ability to work autonomously while maintaining high accountability for quality performance
- Proficiency with common office software and coding-related systems

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentials
- Medical Coding Specialty Credential from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
- Additional related education and/or experience in healthcare coding
