      About Us:

      The Department of Administrative Services is a dedicated team responsible for internal and administrative operations for the State of Iowa government agencies. The Human Resources Enterprise provides comprehensive human resources services to state government agencies.

      Position Overview:

      We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Employee Engagement Coordinator. In this role, you will develop, implement, and manage HR programs designed to enhance employee morale, motivation, and retention for the State of Iowa Executive branch. This position will identify and recommend innovative practices to help improve the way we attract, engage, and retain talent by developing solutions that address agency needs, along with ensuring awareness and utilization of existing human resources programs.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Design and lead employee engagement strategies, including surveys, feedback analysis, and actionable improvements to enhance satisfaction and productivity.
      • Collaborate with HR Consultants and the PDS team to drive culture transformation, promote inclusivity, and support professional development initiatives.
      • Partner across the HR department to strengthen organizational culture, engagement, retention, and capacity, while researching and recommending innovative HR tools and practices.
      • Coordinate events, recognition programs, and cross-functional meetings to support collaboration and celebrate employee contributions.
      • Build strong partnerships with internal teams, leadership, agencies, and vendors, and contribute to special projects across HRE, DAS, and state government.

      Ideal Candidate Profile:

      • Previous experience in HR engagement/recruitment programs, including building culture programs and training, demonstrating effective collaboration through relationship building.
      • Knowledge of survey building and technology platforms
      • Effective communication skills to receive and convey information, ideas and messages in ways that are powerful and appropriate to the situation.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
      • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.

      Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and the equivalent of five years of full-time professional level human resource experience;
      OR
      an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of professional human resource management experience for each 30 semester hours of the required education;
      OR
      an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting fifteen semester hours of graduate level course work in public or human resources administration, labor or industrial relations, business administration or a closely related field to a maximum substitution of two years of qualifying experience;
      OR
      graduation from an accredited law school and the equivalent of three years of full-time professional level human resource management experience;
      OR
      employees with current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of four years of full-time experience as a Human Resources Professional 2 shall be considered as qualified.
