      Employment Services Technician 1/2s located in Kenai!

      These positions are in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/15.


      What You Will Be Doing:
      The Employment Services Technician 1/2 performs a variety of assignments directly related to employment, training and career development through the administration of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) and State Training and Employment Program (STEP). This position is in a training environment, learning eligibility criteria, programmatic guidelines, case management functions, and system operations. The primary focus is to provide employment and training services to assist Alaskans in overcoming barriers to employment. The incumbent worker will provide a variety of services to customers, to include resume writing, interviewing skills, cover letter assistance, job search assistance, labor market research, career exploration, and case management for training and supportive services.

      The Working Environment You Can Expect:
      This uniquely rewarding position is located in Peninsula Job Center in Kenai, which has plenty of free parking and is a short distance to area restaurants, shopping, and the beach; getting out of the office for lunch or a short break is very convenient.

      This is a customer service driven position that works 7.5 hour days within a 37.5 hour workweek, and involves extensive contact to explain and elicit information regarding procedures, services, and/or requirements relating to employment services and training services provided through the Job Center. Upon passing probation, you may be eligible for an Alternate Work Week Schedule that will provide every other Monday or Friday off.

      Employment Services Technician Level 1:
      One year of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

      Employment Services Technician Level 2:
      One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
      OR
      Two years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

      THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY

      This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only. Applicants must meet Alaska Residency Requirements in order to be considered for employment at this time.

      FLEXIBLY STAFFED
      This is a flexibly staffed position with the opportunity to advance to Level 2 upon management’s assessment that the incumbent is performing adequately and has successfully completed training as an Employment Services Technician 1.
