      We are offering an exciting opportunity to start your career with a market leader in automotive seating. You will be working in a world class environment in our UK Headquarters. You will have the opportunity to develop into a highly skilled seating engineer, working across some best-in-class seating projects. This degree apprenticeship will allow the successful candidate to gain skills from working with some of the industries finest engineers, as well as gaining the in-depth knowledge from Coventry University.

      Overview of the role:

      The 4-year Degree Apprenticeship plus an additional 6 months for EPA (End Point Assessment) leading to a BEng (Hons) in Product Design and Development Engineering will develop the candidate to be able to participate in a project, lead project teams and deliver the engineering of best-in-class premium automotive seating product.

      Studying the Product Design and Development Engineer course at Coventry University along with the hands-on training at Lear will help you to develop essential engineering knowledge and skills. You will gain a real understanding of the principles taught and then directly see the benefits in real life engineering projects.

      You will be given real technical specifications or targets to ensure that the design of components and assemblies meet customer and Lear requirements. You will be shown how to work, using structured and modern problem-solving methods to resolve technical issues. This apprenticeship will teach you the importance of adhering to engineering deliverables and give you skills and experience to take through your entire career.

      At the end of the apprenticeship, the candidate will have developed into a Lear Seating Project Engineer and be able to work effectively within a design team, contributing to the team’s collective output, and to applying their knowledge and experience to the engineering of a product. This will give a rounded skillset and strong knowledge of requirements definition & design to meet function, safety, durability, and appearance standards.

      Responsibilities:

      Required Qualifications:

      • Expected to achieve 96 points from 3 A Levels including Math’s and a Science based subject (e,g, three ‘C’ grades or equivalent.
      • Or a Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Engineering, or a related subject with three Merits.
      • Plus GCSE’s at grade 5 or above in Math’s and English.
