Knowledge and experience with 3D CG art and animation

Demonstration of strong design fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to create performant and visually appealing environments

A portfolio of work that showcases artistic and technical fundamentals and the ability to use the Unreal Engine; candidates without portfolios will not be considered

Experience with Unreal Engine is required

Experience with 3D Software (Ex. Blender, Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, etc..)

Ability to take direction and work within an iterative and collaborative design process

Enthusiasm for collaborating with other artists

3D generalist skillsets such as lighting, rigging, and material authoring

Familiarity with Unreal Engine terrains

Familiarity or experience with motion graphics, video editing and compositing

Familiarity or experience with Unreal engine particle systems

UI / UX / Graphic design

Experience with Substance Painter and Designer

2D Concepting / Storyboarding skills

BA in Entertainment Arts, Game Art, 3D Animation, or other relevant artistic education

Preference given to applicants with a history of pursuing continuing education
Torch Technologies, a 100% Employee-owned company, is seeking a Entry-Level Artist - Unreal Engine who is experienced and passionate in CG art and Unreal Engine. A demo reel or portfolio is required, and one that includes Unreal Engine VFX or Unreal Engine rendered cinematics is a plus. Torch is seeking a candidate who is innovative, collaborative, and familiar with working in an iterative design process. Candidate will develop, material, layout, rig, and animate cg assets for vehicle visualization and other purposes. The position provides opportunities to work on a variety of projects ranging from AR / VR applications to short cinematic videos. Candidate must be receptive to regular feedback and must work well with a multidisciplinary team. Candidate will work directly with customers supporting the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC). Knowledge and experience with Unreal Terrains, Unreal Particle systems, UI, UX, graphic design, video editing, motion graphics and compositing is a plus. Canidates with knowledge of military equipment is a plus. Candidate must be able to work in person daily at the Torch Michigan office located in Sterling Heights, MI. Candidate should be trustworthy, dependable, and self-motivated, eager to overcome challenges and solve problems. Previous experience working within a DoD environment is a plus, but not required.
