What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review environmental programs, grants, contracts, and associated projects to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and other environmental statutes
- Develop draft and final Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements with guidance from federal Environmental Compliance Coordinators
- Work closely with ECCs to review program documents, funding applications, and associated tasks for adherence to environmental statutes
- Assist in the development of environmental and cultural resource analyses and documentation for the administrative record
- Provide technical assistance to staff regarding consultations with NOAA or other agencies to ensure compliance
What is Required (Qualifications):
- A Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of experience
- Knowledge of and experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and related environmental statutes
- Ability to work independently with guidance on priorities and NOAA processes
- Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong organizational skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Essential Fish Habitat (EFH), Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), National Marine Sanctuaries Act (NMSA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA)
