      This is a full time, 37.5 hours per week position. Bilingual preferred.

      Performs professional level duties with supervision and assistance in conducting inspections and investigations, surveys, consultative services, and research relative to Environmental Public Health complaints or allegations of non-compliance of State and local laws and regulations; and performs other duties as required.
      • Performs the inspection, consultative, technical competency, training, permitting, complaint investigation, regulation, citation, and quarantining activities pertaining to all environmental health programs.
      • Documentation and data entry of all activities on appropriate forms and / or mobile Environmental Health (EH) tablets.
      • Assists in the development of educational and written materials for environmental health programs and presents food manager and swimming pool operator classes.
      • Participates in planning, implementation, and evaluation of work processes to improve quantity, quality, and efficiency of environmental health programs.
      • Must serve as a member of the Primary Responder Team and be placed in an on-call duty rotation.

      Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree that must include a minimum of twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological sciences, or physical sciences.
      Must be registered as an Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian under the provisions of KRS 223 within six (6) months of appointment and maintain this registration for the length of employment in this classification, http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/KRS/223-00/CHAPTER.HTM. Obtain/maintain certification as a Category 8 Public Health Pesticide Operator. Completion of both the Department for Public Health Environmental and Food Core Trainings. Must be sworn in as a citation officer to enforce the “Smoking Ban” (LFUCG Ordinance-171-93) after completion of six (6) month probationary period. Requires current and valid driver’s license and use of personal transportation to and from job assignments.

      Education Requirements (Any) *EHS: Bachelors degree with a minimum of 24 hours of environmental health sciences, biological sciences, or physical sciences.
