What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Develop and draft Clean Water Act permits, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
- Conduct thorough reviews of permit applications and evaluate technical reports for accuracy
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and compliance staff to assess environmental impacts and establish permit conditions
- Provide technical guidance to applicants and stakeholders throughout the permitting process
- Monitor compliance with permit conditions and assist in evaluating compliance reports
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Geology, Biology, Earth Science, or Law
- Minimum 2 years of experience for Level 2 and 5 years for Level 3
- Environmental Professional In-Training certification required through the Board for Global EHS Credentialing or an equivalent organization
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, particularly the Clean Water Act
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills for evaluating data and drafting permit applications
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for two years of experience
- Doctorate in a related field may substitute for four years of experience
- Qualified Environmental Professional certification through the Board for Global EHS Credentialing or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction preferred
