What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct licensing, compliance, and assistance work related to solid waste facilities and beneficial use activities
- Manage over 60 licensed sites/projects for the Solid Materials Management Unit
- Respond to and resolve complaints at both regulated and unregulated sites
- Assist in solid waste training sessions and support project work across the Department as needed
- Prepare and review applications under local, state, or federal requirements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- A combination of six (6) years of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering, including two (2) years of environmental experience
- At least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited institution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for conveying technical information to non-technical audiences
- Ability to independently identify and resolve problems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access-based programs
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge or experience specific to waste management
- Experience working with municipal officials and the regulated community
- Ability to manage time-sensitive tasks related to multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience preparing or reviewing environmental compliance applications
