      About this role:

      Wells Fargo is seeking an Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Controller that will provide company-wide direction to ensure required ESG reporting is well-controlled and meets global regulatory frameworks and requirements. The ESG controller will bring experience and diligence that the company has developed around financial information to these non-financial disclosures as the ESG controller will have broad responsibilities in this developing area.

      This role will report to the Head of Accounting Policy and SEC Reporting and will be a key leader in the Controller group.


      In this role, you will:

      • Implement ESG reporting strategies and capabilities (consolidates views, understands current environment and emerging landscape, builds consensus with stakeholders)

      • Develop implementation and readiness plans for various ESG reporting-related initiatives, such as SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), state, and other global requirements

      • Establish business mandates designed to meet to global ESG reporting requirements

      • Develop ESG measurement and reporting practices and business requirements that are scalable and adaptable to legal entities and/or various jurisdictions for both current and emerging requirements

      • Understand controls and processes to help deliver on the company’s ESG objectives and establish standards for processes, controls and documentation to support external ESG reporting

      • Performs risk assessment for the design of internal control and governance

      • Establish sufficient governance forums to support external ESG reporting

      • Partner with key stakeholders across the enterprise to deliver timely external ESG reporting

      • Have familiarity with operational and financial data - with ability to translate and connect different groups

      • Participate in industry and peer groups to influence the standard setting process

      • Provide technical interpretations on various matters and act as key change agent in building best practices

      • Interact with leadership to provide support and drive strategic initiatives

      • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external auditors who may provide review, oversight, and assurance to the aspects of the ESG reporting


      Required Qualifications:

      • 7+ years of Finance, accounting, analytics and reporting, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


      Desired Qualifications:

      • Existing experience with financial reporting, data, and controls used for current disclosures, as well as experience or exposure to voluntary and required ESG reporting

      • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications with ability to translate complex technical concepts to create understanding and influence decisions

      • Ability to successfully develop innovative solutions and drive transformational change; strong analytical and critical thinking skills combined with strategic business focus

      • Highly collaborative with proven ability to effectively lead large, complex and diverse teams, and exceptional track record of delivering results

      • An "own it" attitude; a "doer" comfortable in a fast-paced, complex environment; solves problems collaboratively through open and constructive discussion

      • An intelligent, self-confident, and results-oriented individual who possesses a combination of mental flexibility, creativity, analytical ability, and sound judgment
