      Job summary

      Full time Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist , Paignton Hospital

      We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist to join the Torbay and South Devon MSK service.

      You will be based at Paignton Community Hospital (with a possible split with Brixham Community Hospital) both of which benefit from a supportive Physiotherapy team.

      This is an ideal opportunity for a physiotherapist who enjoys the challenge of a varied, often complex clinical caseload, and wishes to develop their diagnostic, clinical reasoning and rehabilitation skills in MSK further.

      Our innovative MSK physiotherapy service offers digital first rapid access, self-referral and the well-established Single Point of Access (SPoA) pathways from physiotherapy into orthopaedics for patients with hip, knee and spinal conditions.

      CPD is at the forefront of our service, ensuring we offer high quality care to our patients. We host external courses, provide funding for training and deliver local and service wide training events to support your CPD.

      Main duties of the job

      Provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to people presenting at musculoskeletal (MSK) outpatient clinics based in physiotherapy departments across South Devon. There is a rapid access booking system in place with up to 50% of patients self-referring.

      Act as a source of expertise on the assessment and management of general MSK patients to patients, physiotherapists, student physiotherapists, assistants/technical instructors, other healthcare professionals, G.P's, and consultants.

      Educate and train physiotherapists, students, and other healthcare professionals in physiotherapeutic management of general MSK conditions.

      Within the MSK service we can offer a range of rehabilitation classes, acupuncture, steroid injections and 1:1 treatment.

      Essential

      • Diploma / degree in physiotherapy
      • State registration - current HCPC certificate
      • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio
      • Experience within the NHS as a Band 5 physiotherapist working in a range of clinical settings, including the musculoskeletal field.
      • Previous MSK experience equivalent to NHS Band 5/6

      Desirable

      • Qualification in acupuncture
      • oPost graduate qualification in relevant MSK skills, for example MACP/Society of Orthopaedic Medicine/ Pilates/acupuncture/strength and conditioning
      • oBand 6 experience within a musculoskeletal setting in the National Health Service

      Knowledge and Skills

      • Advanced working knowledge of a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
      • Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team (health / social care).
      • Clinical skills encompassing the core areas of exercise therapy, management of pain relief, mobility training and therapeutic handling.
      • Sound assessment skills with clinical reasoning and analytical ability.
