The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a Field Operations Attendant.

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Field Operations, the Field Operations Attendant will assist with front of house and back of house field operations at Rogers Centre. They will be key contributors in the installation and maintenance of the baseball field at Rogers Centre, ensuring it meets MLB standards. They will also assist in the installation of signage, backstop nets, foul poles, and help with repairs to stadium seats as required.

The Field Operations Attendant will be part of a team working towards establishing a best-in-class field for the playing of Major League Baseball.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• General labour
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of the baseball field to Major League Baseball’s specifications
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of backstop netting, foul poles, batting practice screens, and pitching machines
• Assist with set-up and tear down of promotional signage and equipment for ceremonies or special events
• Upkeep and maintenance Field Operation shops
• Upkeep and maintenance of the indoor batting tunnels, and bullpens
• Grooming of the field during baseball games (including non-MLB tournaments)
• Assist with distribution of promotional items to gates as needed
• Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment as needed
• Substitute for Ball Boy as needed
• Participation in promotions, commercials, media events as needed
• Successful completion of various internal health and safety training
• Documenting and reporting all incidents major and minor
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Field Operations Attendants must be able to work all 81 home games (evenings, weekends, and holidays) and other Rogers Centre concerts/events, and conversions as required

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift 23kg/50lb without assistance
• Ability to stand for long periods of time; bend, stretch, engage in repetitive motions, push; pull and carry items (tools, bags of clay)
• Ability to run up to 100 yards
• Ability to climb a ladder and use a step stool
• Must be detail-oriented
• A team player who will establish and maintain strong relationships with internal staff to reach desired results
• Effective communication skills – interpersonal and verbal
• Must be able to multi-task and meet required deadlines
• A valid driver’s license is considered an asset
• Knowledge of the game of baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays is considered an asset
