      ALO Life & Annuity Tax Reporting & Reconciliation Team Overview

      The ALO Tax Reporting & Reconciliation team is primarily responsible for the creation of accurate tax reporting and remittance for ALO customers. This entails making sure that our administration systems are reporting & remitting correctly and house accurate information. To accomplish this, the team works closely with a variety of other ALO and NF business partners and communicates directly with producers and customers by phone and email to answer their tax reporting questions. The team reconciles reporting and remittance to verify that the correct amount of withholding is sent to IRS and the states. On a daily basis, we work customer requests for taxable gain quotes that allow customers to make informed decisions about actions they are considering on their policies (Will they be taxed if they take that loan, withdrawal, surrender, etc.?). We also spend time in research, data analytics, and automation. Our team consists of 12 associates that are in the H building in Grandview, Ohio and at home.

      Financial Services Report & Reconciliation Analyst Overview

      The Financial Services Report & Reconciliation Analyst responsibilities include:

      • Learning and maintaining skills across several transaction types and administration systems for both life insurance and annuity business lines
      • Report reconciliation and transactional research
      • Data analysis
      • Internal/external customer interactions
      • Learning and researching state and federal tax regulations
      • Contributing to and leading continuous improvement projects through the Lean system and various automations
      • Daily work will include research, calculations, reviewing reports, reconciliation, data analytics, and ad hoc reporting
      • Time and process management is integral to the Analyst’s role as they will need to manage their own varying workflow volumes and SLAs

      Competencies:

      • Advanced Excel skills
      • Data analytics experience and/or a strong interest to learn
      • VBA knowledge (writing Excel Macros) experience and/or a strong interest to learn
      • SQL experience and/or a strong interest to learn
      • Power Query experience and/or a strong interest to learn
      • Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI experience and/or a strong interest to learn
      • Ability to complete complex calculations and research
      • Ability to operate effectively under tight timelines while maintaining quality standards
      • Independent decision-making skills
      • Ability to review and analyze situations and provide input regarding solutions both independently and in a collaborative environment
      • Interest in Continuous Improvement and LEAN project suggestions and implementation
      • Proactive, engaged attitude (willing to be a part of a close team)
      • Ability to understand, anticipate, and proactively act upon customer needs
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with business partners

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Collects, analyzes, verifies, researches and recommends solutions to processing and booking problems and reports through daily analysis.

      • Balances and reconciles various cases and suspense account to the general ledger.

      • Prepares and analyzes financial reports and statements.

      • Ensures accuracy of reporting and reconciliation for various businesses, products and functions.

      • Trains and cross-trains other team members on work functions and processing procedures.

      • Acts as technical source to answer questions from other departments.

      May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

      Reporting Relationship: Reports to Manager/Director.

      Typical Skills and Experiences:

      Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance or related field.

      Experience: Two years of experience in accounting, finance, tax reporting or customer service.

      Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate both internally and externally. Ability to set work priorities that conform with established standards.

      Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

      Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

      Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

      The national salary range for Financial Services Reporting and Reconciliation Analyst : $42,315.00-$87,300.00

      The expected starting salary range for Financial Services Reporting and Reconciliation Analyst : $47,000.00 - $70,400.00
