ABOUT THE ROLE

MVB provides banking products and services to innovative financial technology (fintech) companies, including payments companies, neobanks, and gaming companies. The Fintech Risk team manages risks arising from MVB’s Fintech Banking business, encompassing financial crimes compliance, consumer compliance, third-party risk management, information security, and operational resilience. The Fintech Risk team is central to MVB’s efforts to develop innovative risk and compliance solutions.

As a manager on the Fintech Risk team, you will be responsible for executing strategies that strengthen risk management at MVB and its partners. This role works closely with the Fintech Business, Operations, and Financial Crimes Compliance teams to implement and enhance processes. This position provides oversight of MVB’s fintech partners and their risk and compliance programs. This position reports to the Fintech Risk Director.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Act as a liaison between MVB and its fintech clients, providing oversight of and support to fintechs as they establish and maintain risk and compliance programs
• Proactively identify, review, and resolve fintech-related risks through due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and testing
• Provide subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders and fintech clients that need regulatory guidance or input
• Develop, document, and implement risk mitigation plans and controls
• Define, monitor, and analyze key risk indicators and other metrics to measure risk exposure, identify emerging risks, and inform decision making
• Identify, track, and resolve issues, liaising with audit and regulatory authorities
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least 7 years working in risk or compliance at a fintech, online sports betting company, daily fantasy sports company, payments company, or sponsor bank
• Strong understanding of laws, rules, regulations, and risks as they relate to gaming or payments
• Ability to understand complex risk and operational issues
• Experience working in or with fintechs, understanding key business concepts and risks associated with new payment flows
• Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and draw meaningful conclusions
• Curious mindset
• Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) are a plus
• SQL or Python skills are a plus
