- Provide direction to mechanics and ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner. Oversee the planning and scheduling of all repair work to increase productivity. Monitor the shop’s operational performance and efficiency and take action to redirect activities as appropriate.
- Manage team including such responsibilities as overseeing daily shop JSA’s, reviews, coaching and counseling on performance and corrective action.
- Implement and maintain an on-going preventive maintenance (PM) program.
- Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues and issue resolution to ensure all works is properly completed and is in accordance with federal and state regulations, and DOT requirements.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to manage advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions of any equipment used by the company, on site and on the road.
- Have and share knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems to facilitate the maintenance and repair of vehicles & equipment in a timely and safe manner.
- Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally move and/or lift up to 150 pounds.
- Work is performed in a high noise, well maintained garage environment with the associated hazards.

A Fleet Services Manager oversees all business and administrative aspects of a service department. Hiring, training, workflow, parts needed, forecasting, budgeting, and evaluating mechanics and support staff. The Fleet Services Manager is to make sure that any piece of equipment that comes to the shop is fixed in a timely manner and with cost in mind.

§ Level 3 – Entry-level. One to two years working on Class 6-8 Diesel trucks.
§ Level 2 – Mid-level. Two to four years working on Class 6-8 Diesel trucks, ASE certified.
§ Level 1 – Master-level. Five years or more working on Class 6-8 Diesel trucks, ASE certified.
