Job Summary

To print good quality laminated, paper and shrink product in line with the ISO 9001 - 2000 Standards.

Responsibilities

1. Set the machine using the correct process information (SOP ‘s and SOC’s), considering the following;

• Formulation – CS Nylon / BX Nylon / Barrier Tubing or Paper
• Colour mixing – Using the correct Pantone colour reference
• The correct anilox screen rollers
• Viscosity of inks is within Specification
• Checking that the Print register is within Specification
• Checking that the Repeat length is within Specification
• Pre-press setup; including plate mounting

2. Control of material

• Complete required Production Order at a material yield of 97% or better
• Complete daily production at a 70% efficiency rate
• Use correct inks and apply the correct mixing formulation as required in the SOC
• Inks and solvent stock control, weekly cycle counts and monthly stock counts
• Completing all administrative tasks and RTS to the stores with the required information (production order #, date, weight of roll, width etc. written on the roll label).

3. Control of the machine and equipment

• Following the SOP to understand the full operation of the machine.
• Set up machine in accordance with the SOC to produce good quality Printed production at all times, in line with all quality specifications.
• Reporting all malfunctions and repair work required on the machine to the Factory Supervisor.
• Ability to do preventative Maintenance i.e., lubrication, roller changes, anilox changes in a safe manner as and when required.
• Operates the Printing Press Machine in compliance with the Cryovac safety rules and ISO 9001 - 2000 standards.
• Reporting any potential hazards in his/her working area.
• Responsible for the safety, care, cleaning and reasonable maintenance of all equipment used by yourself, your assistant, including anilox rollers, sleeves, ink trays and pumps etc.
• Ultimately responsible for the machine during your shift.
• Maintaining good housekeeping of the machine, equipment and the areas under your control.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Matric
• Trade Certification in Flexography Machine or Printing or Printing and Manufacture of Packaging (Advantageous)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Printing, Lamination and Bagmaking processes, production and process design
• Computer literacy
• Excellent colour vision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
