      UC Health is hiring a full-time Food and Nutritional Services Director at the Daniel Drake Center.

      The Food and Nutritional Services Director manages the Food Service department at the site level. This includes providing quality food and service to patients, associates, physicians, visitors, and guests while also maintaining sound fiscal controls, current up-to-date physical operations, ongoing associate and patient education programs, and a safe sanitary work environment.

      As a member of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati's academic health system, Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care has served the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region for more than 165 years. It is the region's premier provider of post-acute and transitional care services, offering a complete range of inpatient and outpatient services including medically complex care, skilled nursing, assisted living, wellness services and research. Daniel Drake Center helps patients recover from catastrophic injury and illness including multi-system organ failure, complex wound care, traumatic brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury. It offers a comprehensive care continuum and a variety of services to help patients throughout their recovery.

      Qualifications

      Education:

      • Minimum Required: Serv safe certification
      • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

      Experience:

      • Minimum Requirement: 1 - 2 years of equivalent experience.
      • 3 - 5 years of Healthcare experience is highly preferred.
      • Knowledge of management, food service, nutrition, clinical dietetics, dietetic education, regulatory agencies affecting food service and accreditation for internship programs, business principles, information systems, and fiscal control.
      • Strong organizational and planning skills as well as human relations and communications skills.

      Responsibilities

      • Interviews candidates for openings and makes hiring recommendations or hiring decisions.
      • Plans, delegates, and organizes work assignments and special projects with staff.
      • Establishes work goals or quantitative/qualitative standards to be achieved with staff input.
      • Evaluates staff’s performance, providing population-specific competency feedback at least annually.
      • Commends staff for good performance and recommends corrective action as warranted.
      • Maintains a motivational and supportive working environment for staff.
      • Recommends promotions, transfers, demotions, or discharges.
      • Meets managerial objectives set by the corporate director.
      • Provides opportunities for associate development through in-services and continuing education.
      • Conducts staff meetings, at least monthly, to inform associates of organizational development necessary for their job responsibilities.
      • Establishes and maintains ongoing internal associate communications process that ensures at least monthly opportunities for all associates to receive updates on hospital activities as well as discuss concerns with the food service manager, and supervisors.
      • Develops annual expense and capital budget for Food and Nutrition Services with input from staff.
      • Prepares quarterly reports for the corporate director and justifies significant deviations.
      • Assesses capital equipment and facility needs with staff and plans for replacements, as necessary.
      • Summarizes and submits reports as defined by the hospital performance improvement plan.
      • Plans and implements corrective measures where thresholds for actions are met, documenting and presenting results to all necessary committees, departments, and superiors.
      • Monitors and maintains sound business practices in public food service areas that ensure friendly and efficient customer service, allowing for competitive pricing, variety in menu offerings, sound cash handling practices, effective complaint resolution, and a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for the customer.
      • Submits reports to the vice president: a) monthly meal census; b) monthly transfer of charges to other departments; c) semi-annual allocation of cost for each cost center, indicating percentage of patient costs versus non-patient costs; d) results of studies requested at their request.
      • Monitors results against internal and external standards and seeks avenues for continuous improvement.
      • Ensures that adequate ongoing educational and training programs are established and conducted for all staff members in the Food Service area including at least six clock hours in the following: orientation of new associates, relevant in-service training, infection control, safety, personal hygiene, and mission and vision.
      • Ensures standards related to Food Service including the local health department, fire department, OSHA, JCAHO, state skilled nursing regulations, and other state and federal regulatory agencies are maintained.
      • Participates in program development, teaching, and training activities for dietetic interns.
