At City Football Group, our Football Intelligence team have over 20 years of experience delivering actionable insights to practitioners in football clubs and governing bodies across the world. Through ongoing investment in our people, data, technology & processes we strive to continually support the CFG clubs in making better football decisions, faster.

This role will support in the delivery of our Football Insights services across all football functions - Talent Management; Football Performance; and Human Performance - across our City Football Group clubs.

This support will primarily be focused on:

• High quality, reliable and insightful visual analytics.
• Scoping, developing & maintaining engaging tools which reduce time to insight.
• Educating and upskilling the analytical capabilities of football staff.

Location: Manchester or Abu Dhabi

Your Impact

1 Play a key role in the development of our proprietary football insights platform, delivering analytical insights to football practitioners across all City Football Group clubs.

2 Development of insightful tools & clear visuals to provide analytical support to CFG clubs & practitioners with the aim of developing the quality and value of our players and teams.

3 Play a key role in developing our intelligence & processes across footballing functions as well as having a positive impact in driving continual excellence at CFG clubs.

4 Provide analytical reviews of all CFG clubs from a talent and performance perspective, providing recommendations for interventions.

What we are looking for

Essential

• Strong expertise in utilising Tableau to drive actions & decision making.
• Ability to evidence skills in scoping, developing & delivering clear, beautiful visual analytics tools.
• Insatiable curiosity, imagination and creativity to come up with ideas to tackle football performance challenges and design/implement cutting edge solutions.
• Evidence of working with, deriving & clearly communicating actionable insights from football data, either as a hobby or within previous employment.
• Creative problem solver with the drive and discipline to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to work in an agile manner suited to the innovative & fast-paced nature of the football industry.
• Ability to work with our Football Intelligence team to understand the performance challenges faced by our clubs and create strategies that deliver positive interventions.

Desirable

• Tableau Public portfolio showcasing development & growth of visual analytics skills.
• Experience working and communicating in the sporting environment.
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data-sources.
• Experience utilising SQL & DataBricks for analysis, automation, and data management.
• Experience with data pipeline & workflow management tools such as Azure Data Factory, AWS data pipelines, Apache Airflow, etc.
• Written & verbal fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or French.
• Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP cloud services or equivalent.
• Some experience in Python, R or other programming language.
