      Position Summary:

      The Foreign Language (FL) Program Coordinator provides administrative support for the Language Programs in GSCS. S/he acts as the Program Coordinator for the Foreign Language Program enrollment process and serves as a social media specialist for the Language Programs. The Coordinator is responsible for the enrollment and re-enrollment processes, registration, refunds, and maintaining student records. S/he works collaboratively with the Director to form Foreign Language classes. The Coordinator also provides information, answers inquiries about the programs, and maintains communication with teachers, advising them of their teaching assignments. S/he works with the Director and Director of Innovative Academic Programs by providing web and print marketing support. Duties include liaising with Public Affairs for the Language Programs' websites, content creation for all social media platforms, working with the administrative team on updating ads, and analyzing the effectiveness of ad content in tandem with the Director and the Director of Innovative Academic Programs. The Coordinator will also have some operations responsibilities.

      Workplace Requirements

      This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in person at the Anderson-Clarke Center, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change. This position will work approximately eight evenings yearly for evening program session startups or social activities.

      Proposed Hiring Range: starting annual salary of $48,700 contingent upon qualifications and experience

      *Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
        • In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted.

      Preferences:

      • Experience with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel
      • Fluency in a foreign language. Spanish preferred.
      • Ability to communicate cross-culturally
      • Academic program and/or project coordination experience

      Essential Functions:

      • Acts as coordinator for the Foreign Language Programs enrollment process
      • Responsible for the lifecycle of enrollment and re-enrollment processes, registration, refunds, and maintenance of student records for the Foreign Language Program
      • Provides customer service for the Language Programs.
      • Answers daily questions from students and the public and provides information about the Language Programs. This is a front desk position.
      • Prepares blast emails and coordinates yearly business mailing, including updating the program e-brochure annually
      • Provides administrative support to the Director and administrative staff of the Language Programs
      • Works approximately eight evenings a year for session startups.
      • Works collaboratively with others on special projects
      • Performs other duties as assigned

      Additional Functions

      • Develops and manages the communication and brand strategy for individual program(s), incorporating appropriate marketing channels
      • Recommends, manages, and executes integrated marketing plans/programs and strategies to meet business objectives in conjunction with the administrative team
      • Guides event planning and execution. This includes sharing duties with the ESL Coordinator for ESL social events and creating social media content based on these events
      • Manages market research and analysis used to make informed decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation, and customer targeting in conjunction with the Director of Innovative Academic Programs
      • Assesses market opportunities and tracks market trends in conjunction with the Director of Innovative Academic Programs
      • Recommends marketing improvements based on analysis
      • Coordinates the production of communication and marketing materials, including ads
