Further the mission, vision, and goals of Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicin
-
Develop and deliver clinically focused physiology content within a team-taught, spirally integrated, clinical presentation curriculum.

Participate in the development of development of course syllabi, learning objectives, content, and assessments
-
Participate in clinical presentation curriculum schema development and related foundational sciences and health systems science content.
-
Develop and lead a variety of small and large group, interactive, and active learning activities for medical students across the four years of the curriculum.
-
Develop a variety of formative and summative assessments suitable for integrated foundational sciences content.
-
Serve as content lead for their discipline within a completely integrated pre-clerkship curriculum.
-
Serve as co-director for at least one pre-clerkship, systems-based course.
-
Participate in LCME accreditation activities.
-
Engage in medical education research and scholarly activity.
-
Participate in relevant medical school and university committees.
-
Collaborate with other faculty, content leads, course directors, curriculum committees, and administrators to support the mission of the medical school.

Role model professionalism and adhere to institutional policies and procedures.
-
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
-
Teach and facilitate case-based discussions in pre-clerkship phase course.

Earned Ph.D. or other terminal degree in their discipline or closely related discipline from an accredited institution.

At least five years of teaching experience at the medical school level.

Demonstrated commitment to innovative educational approaches.

Experience in teaching content in their discipline within an integrated, team-taught curriculum that uses very limited lecturing.

Evidence of a scholarly approach to education and evidence of scholarship in their discipline or medical education.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience using different active learning modalities

Proficiency with writing NBME-style questions

Experience with curricular and instructional design

Job Summary:
Methodist University is now seeking to hire it’s first round of Four (4) Foundational Science Faculty for its new School of Medicine in partnership with Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, NC. The Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine is an applicant program with the LCME with an anticipated start date of Summer 2026 for its charter class. The Department of Foundational Science is seeking creative, forward-thinking, student-focused medical educators with expertise and experience in the following disciplines - Physiology, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Genetics, Gross Anatomy/Histology/Embryology, Pathology, Cell Biology/Immunology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Public Health/Community Health/Epidemiology - to join in the development and delivery of our new spirally integrated, clinical presentation curriculum. Our mission is to prepare our graduates to be socially accountable, community-engaged, evidence-based, compassionate, equity-focused physician leaders who will contribute to mitigating health disparities and improving health outcomes in southeastern NC or wherever they may practice. Faculty will participate in small group facilitation and assessment. While medical education will be the priority for all faculty, educational scholarship and service are expected with time allocated for such efforts. Faculty will report to the Foundational Science Chair/Associate Dean for Foundational Sciences and the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Student Success. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of teaching experience in a medical school that includes curriculum development, small group facilitation, case-based learning, and assessment design/delivery.
