- Gaming Device Certification: Verify and certify new gaming devices upon installation at Arizona gaming facilities.
- Compliance Inspections: Conduct random inspections of electronic gaming devices to ensure they meet technical and regulatory standards.
- Data Management: Maintain and update the department’s database of approved gaming devices and software.

- Inspect and test Class III gaming devices, electronic slot monitoring systems, and related hardware/software.
- Verify authenticity of gaming device software and control programs to ensure compliance.
- Certify new gaming devices upon installation and maintain approval records.
- Conduct routine and random inspections to detect non-compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
- Monitor, review, and document casino records and reports to ensure devices function properly.
- Analyze gaming industry reports and data to assess trends and potential compliance risks.
- Ensure all modifications to gaming devices (hardware/software) meet compliance regulations.
- Collaborate with partners, including Tribal Gaming Offices and third-party manufacturers, to resolve compliance concerns.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, compliance reviews, and certification reports.
- Stay up to date on evolving gaming industry innovations, regulatory standards, and new technologies.
- Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact and appendices related to machine compliance.
- Class III gaming device operations, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
- Slot monitoring and control systems, including online reporting and compliance data analysis.
- Gaming industry technology trends, statistical reporting, and regulatory updates.
- Computer hardware, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite for compliance tracking and reporting.
- Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving to assess and resolve gaming device issues.
- Analyzing and interpreting compliance reports to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Maintaining professional working relationships with casino personnel, Tribal Gaming Offices, and manufacturers.
- Critical thinking and decision-making in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
- Time management and organizational skills to meet compliance deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication, including reviewing lab certification reports.
- Be detail-oriented and highly observant in inspecting and certifying gaming devices.
- Organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, meeting strict deadlines.
- Work independently with initiative, while also collaborating as part of a regulatory team.
- Formulate and communicate regulatory actions to decision-makers and industry stakeholders.
- Travel statewide, including overnight stays, to conduct on-site inspections.
- Work in a casino environment, including areas with smoke and extended periods of standing.
- At least two (2) years of experience as a slot technician, tribal gaming regulator, or IT technician in a related field.
- Experience with standard gaming device testing equipment and compliance procedures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).

Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) is the state agency charged with regulating tribal gaming, event wagering & fantasy sports contests, racing and pari-mutuel/simulcast wagering and unarmed combat sports. ADG also provides and supports prevention, education, and treatment programs for people and families affected by problem gambling through its Division of Problem Gambling.

The Arizona Department of Gaming is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Gaming Device Compliance Technician to test, inspect, and verify the compliance of electronic gaming devices across Arizona’s gaming facilities. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring gaming integrity by testing Class III gaming devices, slot monitoring systems, and associated hardware/software to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This position will be responsible for accurately entering gaming device data into spreadsheets and a database in a timely manner.
