      Main duties of the job

      The main General Practice Nurse duties we are looking for include childhood and adult immunisations, cervical cytology and long term condition reviews.

      You will work closely with our clinical multi-professional team which includes; an advanced nurse practitioner, a nurse associate, a pharmacist and the GPs.

      We are also a training practice who host GP trainees and student nurse associates.

      JOB DESCRIPTION PRACTICE NURSE

      REPORTS TO: Partners & Management team

      HOURS: 15-16 hours per week

      Job Summary:

      The Practice Nurse will work as part of the practice team providing general medical services to our patient population. Also assist medical personnel in the care of Practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
      • Cytology
      • New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
      • Travel vaccinations and advice
      • Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
      • Venepuncture
      • Hypertension Management
      • Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
      • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
      • Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
      • Interest in Long term conditions reviews including Hypertension, Asthma, COPD and Diabetes among others.
      • Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate

      Other tasks will include:

      • Ordering of stock for the emergency trolley
      • Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
      • Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
      • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
      • On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
      • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
