      Pay Per Session £10,398.00

      4 to 6 sessions a week

      Sketty & Killay Medical Centres are able to offer the opportunity to join a friendly, caring and forward thinking practice. We are a large GP practice of approximately 22,500 patients and have 11 GP partners and 5 salaried GPs. We are a multidisciplinary team that includes pharmacists, minor ailments practitioners, paramedic and a large nursing team overseeing care delivery. We are a training practice and have trainees from F2 to ST3.

      We offer many enhanced services and encourage doctors to learn new skills and develop specialist interests such as Minor Ops,Appraisal,Teaching,GPwSI roles in a supportive environment. We are a teaching practice and have students from both Swansea & Cardiff Universities.

      Main duties of the job

      • In accordance with the Practice rota, undertaking daily telephone, digital and face to face consultations for acutely unwell patients on the day.

      • Manage a patient caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

      • Undertaking home visits when required

      • Actioning blood results and Docman

      • Overseeing chronic disease management

      • Participating and supporting in practice clinical meetings

      • Supporting GP registrars

      About us

      This long established practice covers a wide area and is one of the largest in Wales. The Partnership consists of 2 full time and 9 part time GP Partners they share their time between the two purpose built premises in Sketty and Killay. Both centres have suitable access for all disabled patients and there is a lift to the first floor treatment centre at Killay. We are a training practice and undertake the teaching and training of healthcare professionals.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      • Working in accordance with the practice opening hours, the applicant will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including telephone consultations, surgery consultation queries, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, reviewing results and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

      • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.

      • Accessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

      • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

      • Consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

      • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

      • Providing counselling and health education

      • Referring patients to our cluster projects where applicable

      • Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards

      • Collecting data for audit purposes

      • Contributing to evaluation,audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

      • Contributing to the development of computer based patient records

      • Contributing to the summarising of patient records and accurate read coding of patient data

      • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies where appropriate

      • Compiling and issuing of computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions

      • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary whenever clinically appropriate

      • Ensuring that all work carried out which carries a private fee, is properly recouped and accounted for e.g. medical reports, insurance reports, private letters etc.

      In general, the applicant will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
