- A master’s degree in Geology, Petroleum engineering or a related geoscience discipline. 5+ years in a relevant industry technical domain will be considered in leu of a master’s degree
- 2+ years’ experience from the mudlogging or logging while drilling job functions. Consideration will also be given to related earth-science experience
- Clearly demonstrate a passion for earth sciences and an ability to visualize 3D sub-surface geometry
- Fluency in English verbally and written required, beneficial with a Norwegian language
- Excellent communication skills
- Solution oriented, adaptable, and flexible to move within Norway

The training and development phase is expected to last in the region of 9 to 12 months. Starting off with a two-week basic training course after the completion of the pre-requisites, the successful candidates will be assigned a mentor who will help the developing engineer apply the skills that were learned in the basic course and prepare for the advanced course.
The advanced geosteering course will be taught 6 to 7 months after the basic course and will take two weeks to complete where a pass is required to transition to the next phase of development which is the demonstration of the capability to perform complex geosteering work unsupervised in conjunction with our customers. During the development phase, the geosteering engineers will be required to work office hours. As the engineer’s competency develops over this period, they will be required to construct pre-job models and assist the team on tasks to help facilitate development.
After the advanced geosteering class, the geosteering engineer will be “shadowed” by an experienced engineer until they are deemed competent enough to work in an unsupervised capacity.Job description – Geosteering Engineer
At the conclusion of the development phase, the geosteering engineer will be tasked to work without supervision where the tasks will involve a mix of pre-well modelling, active geosteering and post well reporting.
During these three main activities, the geosteering engineer will be required to present with confidence both internally and externally. During real-time operations, the engineer will support real time communication tools used to provide visualizations of available interpreted geological data to the customer. Responsible for learning the skills required to work proficiently as a geosteering geologist including the processes, tools and equipment used in Measurement While Drilling/Logging While Drilling (MWD/LWD), Directional Drilling, Log Analysis, Well Planning, and Real Time Operations.Qualifications

Work location and schedule
The work location for the development phase will be the Halliburton office in Tananger, Norway. After the development of core competencies, the workplace might be changed to one of our customers to assist the in-house team which provides an opportunity for the developing engineer to be evaluated in how they interact and respond to customer requests. As previously mentioned, this phase of development will occur during office hours.
After the geosteering engineer has clearly demonstrated the ability to work unsupervised, there will be an opportunity for them to decide between office based and rotational contracts. The place of work will be split between our customers and the Halliburton office where a residence in the Stavanger area would be preferred.Product Service Line
