- Coordinates with Urban Foresters and Managing Arborist to deliver mapping products in a timely and accurate manner
- Works in a team environment to produce, maintain and share geospatial data
- Assists Data Technician with administrative tasks in preparation for and reconciliation of tree installations
- Assists with tracking and ordering of Tree Operations materials
- Answers and directs phone calls to the appropriate staff within Tree Operations Department
- Performs maintenance updates on annually published public-facing maps and other cartographic resources
- Leads grant reporting in Tree Operations department by creating appropriate queries and report numbers from GIS database to GIS Analyst and Tree Operations Director
- Assists with preparation and execution of Survival Study, Pruning Maps, and Watering Maps

- While this is primarily a desk job, all CT employees may engage in tree planting/related activities in outdoor environments, year-round in the heat, cold and inclement weather and must have suitable clothing. Summary
The GIS Technician connects people to trees using maps and data. The incumbent supports the Tree Operations department on a range of initiatives from grant reporting to administrative functions.

Working Conditions
The incumbent works in the office and in the occasionally in the field to collect data. Must be able to use equipment such as (not an exclusive list): desktop computer, printer/plotter, smart phones, iPad, and other mobile devices.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a fulltime, nonexempt position, averaging 40 hours a week. The incumbent must be able and willing to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours when needed.
Travel
Travel is primarily local, although some out of the area travel and overnights may be expected.
