      Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of companies, industries, markets and economies. GIR analysts, economists and strategists help our clients achieve superior returns through our creative, differentiated investment insights and ideas. Our clients include mutual funds, hedge funds and pension funds, among others.

      We are seeking Economics / Finance PhD candidates to participate in a 10-week paid fellowship. The Fellowship will enable PhDs to explore a potential career in Macro Research. Fellows will be provided with training, networking and mentorship opportunities, as well as hands-on experience as an active contributor of a research team.

      As a Fellow, you will:

      • Learn about the Goldman Sachs culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being part of the firm
      • Be aligned to one of the economics research teams and have the opportunity to participate in various aspects of the daily workflow and research process
      • Work on unique research projects and contribute to team’s publications

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      Working closely with a Senior Economist and other members of the team and Macro Research, the responsibilities of the Fellow are to:

      • Generate unique, thematic written research
      • Develop quantitative models to forecast economic growth, inflation, and interest rates
      • Interpret and comment on high-frequency economic data releases
      • Build and maintain financial models

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Candidate for PhD in Economics or Finance (the expected graduation date should be no later than summer 2025)
      • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
      • A proven capability for original and thought-provoking research
      • Ability to work both autonomously and in a close team settings in a fast-paced, high energy environment
      • An enthusiastic researcher
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to interact with global teams

      Salary Range
      The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
