      Hourly range is $21.63/hr to $48.07/hr, with a midpoint of $31.25/hr. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

      GENERAL PURPOSE:
      Under general direction, the Government & Community Relations Coordinator supports the work of the Government and Community Relations Division. Provides logistical and technical support services for tribal, federal, state and local government relations functions including invoice processing, contracts/budget support, scheduling, and creating and maintaining tracking systems. Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks to help ensure efficient functioning of the division. Plans and staff’s community events and coordinates special projects as assigned.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
      The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

      • Provides direct administrative support to the GCR division and back-up support for the Board Administration division, including paying invoices and processing partnership and sponsorship requests.
      • Makes travel arrangements, prepares expense reports, processes agency forms, and supports the development of the division budget.
      • Supports the creation of presentation and informational materials, including correspondence and other products targeting partners at the tribal, state, local and federal levels.
      • Creates and maintains tracking systems to support team efficiency and transparency.
      • Provides logistical support for speaker’s bureau appearances, as well as briefings and tours for stakeholders.
      • Works collaboratively with peers in the office of the CEO and the Chief Communications Officer to design processes, share information, and plan and schedule meetings and events.
      • May lead or participate in process design and continuous improvement projects.
      • May act as backfill to support the Board Administration Division or other public meetings the agency is leading.
      • Serves as primary point of contact for smaller projects; prepares materials, contacts stakeholders, responds to concerns, and communicates progress to staff.
      • Schedules and attends planning meetings as assigned: prepares agendas, takes notes, prepares meeting minutes, tracks action items; manages any assigned tasks.
      • Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or Public Administration, or a closely related field and three years of experience coordinating government or public relations programs, project management, and/or administrative support for a team or professionals, including volunteer organizations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Required Knowledge and Skills:

      • Project management techniques and principles.
      • Principles and techniques of government/public relations.
      • Principles and techniques of research, analysis, tracking systems and report preparation.
      • Methods and techniques of writing and editing, including English usage, spelling and punctuation.
      • Customer services principles and practices.
      • Principles of inclusion and respect.
      • Principles and practices of record keeping/records management.
      • Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, finance systems and statistical databases.
      • Distilling technical information into concise, easy to understand messages for both internal and external audiences.
      • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and able to multitask.
      • Coordinating work plans, including tracking deadlines, facilitating review and approval processes, fact-checking, proofreading, and applying established standards to ensure completeness, accuracy and quality of deliverables.
      • Establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with diverse work groups and individuals, including other staff, management, vendors, outside agencies, community groups and the general public.
      • Working effectively under pressure, managing multiple assignments and tasks, meeting deadlines, setting objectives/goals, and re-prioritizing as needed.
      • Effectively representing Agency programs in contacts with the public, businesses, community organizations and other government agencies.

      • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
