      Job summary

      We currently have a full-time vacancy based at North Shore Surgery Mon-Fri as part of Blackpool North PCN.

      Main duties of the job

      As an administrator role at North Shore Surgery the position will involve a range of duties including secretarial work, processing private work (insurance reports, adoption and fostering medicals), clinical coding and other associated tasks.

      Blackpool North Primary Care Network covers the patients registered at Glenroyd Medical Centre and North Shore Surgery aiming to expand the services already provided by the practices.

      North Shore Surgery is an modern, forward thinking training practice based in the north of Blackpool, providing health care to over 13,500 patients. We have a wide range of clinicians including 5 GP's, 4 highly skilled Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 7 Practice Nurses as well as HCA's and Practice Pharmacists.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      We are looking for an intelligent, self-motivated person with a sunny disposition to join our busy well-organised team. Although previous experience is preferred it is not essential, an eagerness to learn new skills and provide high standards of work are.

      A knowledge of EMIS Web and Docman would be a great advantage to this position. The applicant must possess good computer skills, communication, verbal, and written skills. In this position attention to detail and confidentiality are always essential.

      The job shall cover a range of administrational duties, focusing on, but not limited to, medical secretary work involving typing up dictations, processing referrals, being the first point of call for any referral or result queries from patients and secondary care.

      A large part of the role will be to deal with all private work coming into the surgery, assessing what can and cannot be dealt with. Processing payments and liaising with clinicians and patients regarding any appointments and completion of paperwork. The surgery uses IGPR managed services to complete some of the private work, the successful candidate will take responsibility for this.

      You will also be expected to be involved in the surgeries clinical coding and any other associated tasks.

      Working in Primary Care can be very demanding so an ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly and to prioritise workload are essential. Common sense and a good sense of humour are essential. You will be required to attend training courses and practice meetings.

      The post holder is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of a child or adult he/she is responsible for or comes into contact with.
