      Job summary

      We are looking to appoint 1 new Receptionist to support the practice clinical team by signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service and working as part of the practices multi-disciplinary team.

      Main duties of the job

      • Answer incoming calls and dealing with the callers request appropriately.
      • Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
      • Support all clinical staff with tasks as required.

      We are a member of the South Sefton Primary Care Network. We are also a training practice for student and junior doctors and physician associates.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      • Full-time 37.5 hours per week.
      • Contract type - Permanent (subject to completion of a 3-month probationary period).
      • Working hours: over 5 days, hours to be agreed.
      • Answer the telephone promptly and deal with queries appropriately Make appointments with GPs, Physician Associates & Practice Nurses Signpost patients to more appropriate services when necessary.
      • Prepare repeat prescriptions ready for GPs to check and sign Deal with patient requests regarding results of diagnostic tests.
      • Record and maintain accurate patient information, summarising and coding information onto the patients notes using the practice computer system Check, scan and electronically file correspondence from the local hospitals and community services.
      • Experience of working as a team and working with the public.
      • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
      • Honest, loyal, and trustworthy professional and discrete.
      • Works well under pressure.
      • Organised and hard working.
      • Punctual and flexible.
      • Good sense of humour.
      • Good at resolving conflicts.
      • Computer literate.
      • Experience of working in a GP surgery as a receptionist or administrator.
      • Experience of using the EMIS Web IT system.
