      Contract Grant Writer (1099) – Behavioral Health & Housing Initiatives

      Location: Remote (Preference for familiarity with Massachusetts and Florida)
      Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
      Compensation: Competitive (Hourly or Per-Project)

      Position Overview

      As a Contract Grant Writer, you will be responsible for identifying, researching, and preparing compelling proposals for state-level funding in Massachusetts and Florida, with a focus on:

      • Behavioral health programs

      • Residential treatment and sober living

      • Reentry support services

      • Housing assistance for vulnerable populations

      You’ll work closely with leadership and program teams to ensure our proposals reflect the heart of our mission and the needs of the communities we serve.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Identify and evaluate relevant funding opportunities from agencies such as:

        • MA Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)

        • MA Department of Public Health (DPH)

        • FL Department of Children and Families (DCF)

        • Florida Housing Finance Corporation

        • SHIP
        • Local Continuums of Care (CoCs)

      • Write and submit comprehensive grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documentation (budgets, logic models, work plans).

      • Collaborate with internal teams to gather data, shape proposal narratives, and meet all technical requirements.

      • Maintain a grant calendar and manage submission timelines.

      • Provide regular progress updates and participate in planning meetings.

      Qualifications

      • Proven success in writing and securing state or local grants, ideally in behavioral health, housing, or social services.

      • Deep knowledge of funding systems in Massachusetts and/or Florida.

      • Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.

      • Ability to synthesize programmatic information into persuasive, data-driven proposals.

      • Proficiency in using grant portals (e.g., COMMBUYS, MyFloridaMarketPlace, SAM).

      • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

      • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.

      Preferred Experience

      • Working with DCF-licensed (FL) or DPH-licensed (MA) providers.

      • Knowledge of behavioral health licensing, CoC programs, and Medicaid-funded services.

      • Based in or familiar with the needs of communities in MA or FL.
