      Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our creative team in the Marketing Department. The Graphic Designer is responsible for supporting the Sr. Graphic Designer in creating impactful design solutions from concept to completion that effectively communicate the Carey Business School brand and its programs. The Graphic Designer designs and produces a wide variety of materials and supports the Sr. Graphic Designer in selecting the appropriate media and style to meet the strategic and tactical goals of each design project/marketing communications initiative. This position will support brand identity design and manage template creation. The Designer will work with the Sr. Designer and Associate Director of Creative to execute projects. They are responsible to meet with project partners and vendors to identify project needs and printing and production considerations.


      *This position must be able to work on several projects concurrently. Attention to detail is essential.


      Specific Duties & Responsibilities


      Design work

      • Maintain deep understanding of the Johns Hopkins University Brand Standards and the Brand Identity Guidelines for Carey.
      • Create multiple creative concepts for consideration on in-house materials.
      • Maintain templated Carey-branded material for ease-of-use by partners.
      • Present concepts and design solutions to Marketing Managers and partners with Sr. Designer.
      • Distill feedback and manage relationships with collaborators throughout the design process.
      • Stay current on the latest trends and technology in graphic and digital design.


      Support work

      • Support planning and execution of design projects from start to completion.
      • Propose solutions for a variety of communications across all channels including print, email, social, web, plasma screen displays and event promotions, from small scale items to larger scale projects.
      • Collaborate in brainstorm solutions for marketing needs for internal partners.
      • Work collaboratively with Sr. Graphic Designer and creative team to ensure creativity and continuity across materials.
      • Archive design work.
      • Must maintain a professional working relationship with faculty, students and staff.
      • Other related duties as assigned.


      Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

      • Understanding of design theory.
      • Adept in graphic design, layout and typography.
      • Must have a collaborative energy and ability to positively receive feedback.
      • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage production calendars.
      • Self-directed and self-motivated.
      • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
      • Ability to use a number of creative and office software programs including but not limited to: Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint.


      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's Degree in fine arts, graphic design, or related field
      • Two year's experience and a portfolio.




      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint.
      • Three plus years of experience preferred.
      • Experienced in use of Canva and Lucidpress preferred.
      • Experience with an email marketing platform (Mailchimp, Staffbase, etc.) preferred.
      • Video production knowledge preferred including After Effects and Adobe Premiere technical skills.
      • Website design experience preferred.
      • DSLR photography experience preferred.
      • Proficiency in Project Management Software (Smartsheet) preferred.

      Starting Salary Range: Min $45,700 - Max $80,000 Annually ($62,012 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

      JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
