      Job Overview

      The Graphic Designer supports online course development at the School of Continuing Studies (SCS). They design and create visually appealing and effective instructional materials for a variety of learning experiences at SCS – including designing, laying-out and formatting documents for print and digital, developing graphics, illustrations, infographics, and multimedia content that align with instructional design principles to enhance learning experience.

      Work Interactions

      The Graphic Designer works closely with instructional designers, videographers, subject matter experts, and faculty directors to execute design concepts through to completion. Given that their work is instrumental to the development of academically rigorous and high-quality courses, they directly support the mission and goals of SCS and Georgetown University.

      Requirements and Qualifications

      • Associate's degree in graphic design, instructional design, multimedia design, visual communications, visual arts or a related field - preference for a Bachelor's degree same in same fields
      • 1 to 3 years of graphic design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in graphic design
      • Proficiency with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or other relevant tools
      • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders
      • Creativity and innovation in designing visually engaging and effective instructional materials
      • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple, complex projects and tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress to stakeholders in a remote setting
      • A self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
      • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
      • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality instructional materials


      Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience in e-learning, corporate training, or higher education
      • Solid understanding of instructional design principles, multimedia principles of learning, and accessibility standards
      • Familiarity with learning management systems, such as Canvas, Coursera, or other similar platforms

      Salary Range

      The expected pay range for this position is $41,926 to $65,090 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs.
