      Hayes Intermediate Choir Director/Secondary Choir Assistant Director

      Qualifications

      • Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate with a Music Education (JX or JQ) endorsement.
      • Proven experience in building and maintaining a successful choral program.

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

        • Applicants should have proficient keyboard skills.
        • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in vocal pedagogy with developing voices.
        • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
        • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

      Duties and Responsibilities

        • Director of 6th Grade Choir programming at Hayes Intermediate School.
        • Assistant Director of Choral Activities in the secondary choral department.
        • Planning choral events such as concerts, field trips and choral recruitment events.
        • Excellent conducting and rehearsal technique; good organizational, communication and leadership abilities.
        • Experience in creative concert planning, resulting in successful choral development.
        • Ability to impart music theory and vocal technique to choir in simple, accessible ways.
        • Communicates regularly with students, parents, families and administration regarding choral activities.
        • Participates in professional development, maintains appropriate certification and qualifications.
        • Creates a positive, engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriately responds to the maturity level and interest of the students.
        • Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
        • Proactively teaches appropriate behavior and expectations.
        • Evaluates the academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
        • Communicates regularly with students, parents, families and administration in advocacy of student growth.
        • Adheres to district and school rules and procedures.
        • Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
        • Maintains regular predictable in-person attendance.
