Job Summary: Under general supervision and broad objectives, the Head Golf Professional is responsible for the effective operation of the golf club house and assigned staff. Responsibilities include coordination of various golf programs (player development, junior golf, 1st Tee, etc.) and providing golf lessons to individuals and groups. Additional duties include opening and closing the pro shop, completing various reporting functions, ensuring effective customer service, and arranging individual, group, and tournament tee times. Job Responsibilities/Duties: - Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; including hiring, training, coaching, and terminating.
- Coordinates the opening and closing of golf pro shop including operating and reconciling of cash registers, prepares and makes deposits, dates play tickets, completes daily reports, and provides basic pro shop security.
- Provides general information to customers relating to tee times, upcoming tournaments, etc.; directs callers to appropriate destination as needed.
- Assists Director of Golf in budgeting decisions pertaining to Golf Operations.
- Assists Director of Golf in 3, 5, and 10 year Golf Operations Plans.
- Manages assistant golf professionals, rangers, starters, cart attendants, etc., to ensure smooth operation of the golf course and driving range.
- Manages all golf operations in the absence of the Director of Golf.
- Assists Director of Golf with individual and group tournament schedules, including precise daily, weekly, and monthly dates and times, makes necessary copies, sends confirmation to appropriate individuals and files.
- Organize and implement player development program.
- Schedules, organizes and scores tournaments.
- Instructs individual and group lessons as requested.
- Works with other clubs when coordinating leagues and matches and implements new methods of operations as needed.
- Ensures that all member groups are scheduled and tournaments are coordinated with assistant professionals.
- Performs club repair as necessary.
- Promotes and participates in training activities to optimize customer service skills of staff.
- Manages schedule efficiently to ensure time to play golf with JIGC golf associations and membership.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.
- PGA/LPGA Class A Certification required.
- Minimum five (5) years of golf related experience required.
- Collaborative team player able to develop and maintain relationships with members, employee partners and guests.
- Must possess basic computer knowledge in a Windows environment.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: - Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Up to 20 pounds of force frequently and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical work day will be spent standing, walking and twisting as well as repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers.
- Sensory abilities required are talking and hearing and communicating
- Visual abilities to perform tasks required are preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, use of the computer, expansive reading.
- Subject to work both inside and in outside environmental conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures and high humidity
