      ABOUT THE ROLE

      The Head of Automation and Data is a critical senior leadership role responsible for shaping the organization’s strategy around both automation and data. This position oversees the development, integration, and execution of advanced automation solutions while ensuring that data governance, analytics, and insights drive decision-making across all levels of the organization. They will lead initiatives to automate processes, leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), and implement cutting-edge data strategies to optimize operations, customer experiences, and overall business performance. The role requires a combination of strong technological expertise, data acumen, visionary leadership and will oversee Enterprise Applications, Data and Automation teams.

      WHAT YOU’LL DO

      Data Strategy and Architecture:

      • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with and drives our product roadmap and business objectives.
      • Design and oversee the implementation of scalable, cloud-native data architectures capable of supporting rapid growth and real-time data processing.
      • Lead the adoption of best practices in data governance, quality, and democratization to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and actionable across the organization.
      • Implement robust data privacy and security measures, going beyond mere compliance to establish our company as a leader in ethical data practices.

      Advanced Analytics and Data Science:

      • Build and lead a world-class team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to develop proprietary algorithms and machine learning models that drive product innovation and business value. Establish and oversee MLOps practices to streamline the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of machine learning models in production.
      • Drive the adoption of advanced analytics techniques, including real-time and streaming analytics, to extract actionable insights from our data.
      • Collaborate with product teams to integrate data science capabilities into our products, enhancing their value proposition and competitive edge.

      Automation and AI:

      • Develop an automation strategy that leverages AI, machine learning, and robotic process automation to enhance operational efficiency and product capabilities.
      • Lead the implementation of intelligent automation solutions across the organization, focusing on scalability and business impact.
      • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven process optimization and automation.
      • Explore and implement emerging technologies such as natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning to push the boundaries of our AI capabilities.

      Innovation and Product Development:

      • Work closely with product management to identify opportunities for data-driven features and products that solve customer problems and create new revenue streams.
      • Lead hackathons and innovation initiatives to explore novel applications of data and AI within our product ecosystem.
      • Stay abreast of the latest trends in data science, AI, and automation, and proactively recommend new technologies and approaches for adoption.

      Data Democratization and Culture:

      • Develop and implement a data literacy program to empower all employees to leverage data in their decision-making.
      • Create self-service analytics platforms and tools that enable non-technical users to explore data and generate insights.
      • Foster a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making across all levels of the organization.

      Open Source and Community Engagement:

      • Encourage and oversee contributions to relevant open-source projects, enhancing our company's reputation in the tech community.
      • Represent the company at industry conferences and events, sharing our innovations and learnings in data science and automation.
      • Build partnerships with academic institutions and research organizations to stay at the forefront of data science and AI advancements.

      Scalability and Performance:

      • Ensure all data and automation systems are designed for high scalability, able to handle exponential growth in data volume and user base.
      • Implement performance monitoring and optimization strategies for all data pipelines and automated processes.
      • Lead capacity planning efforts to ensure our data infrastructure can support the company's ambitious growth targets.

      Governance, Risk, and Compliance:

      • Develop governance frameworks for both automation and data, ensuring compliance with industry standards, privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and ethical guidelines.
      • Work closely with the legal, IT, and compliance teams to mitigate risks related to automation technologies and data usage.
      • Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to protect sensitive data and automation infrastructures from external threats.

      Talent Management and Leadership:

      • Build and lead a high-performing team of automation, AI, data engineers, data scientists, and analysts.
      • Promote a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration within the automation and data functions.
      • Lead organizational change management efforts to drive the adoption of automation and data solutions across the company.

      EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

      • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
      • 15+ years of experience in leadership roles related to data science, machine learning, and automation, with a track record of driving innovation in technology companies.
      • Deep expertise in modern data architectures, big data technologies, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
      • Proven experience in building and scaling data science and machine learning teams and products.
      • Strong understanding of software development practices and experience with agile methodologies.
      • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Experience with open-source data science and ML tools and frameworks, and a history of contributions to the open-source community.
      • Strong ethical foundation with a commitment to responsible AI and data practices.
