What you’ll be doing
This role is responsible for leading and managing the team of Events Leads, Consultants, an Apprentice and Butler in the ideation, planning and execution of Sale related events, corporate hire and charity events, as well as Executive hospitality across London and EMEA, including any online events. The role will deliver events that allow for effective client engagement at the very highest level, reflecting the core business values, promoting business objectives and maintaining consistently high standards of delivery within agreed budgets.
What your day might look like:
Strategic Event Planning
• Collaborate with the Head of Client Engagement, EMEA and Specialist Art departments to agree, plan and resource EMEA events effectively.
• Continually ensure the Event Strategy is clearly defined with transparent goals, metrics and adjust according to business needs/data.
• To drive creativity and improved ways of working around all events.
• Liaise with Client Strategy to strategically identify target client lists and plan the event timeline accordingly.
• Oversee and sign off the Events calendar which is shared with the business on a monthly basis.
• Ensure the EMEA events Calendar is well balanced and managed across the team, with clear points of contact for each individual project.
• Work with Head of Client Engagement to understand and manage Events budget and report on variance.
Event Management
• To plan, project manage and execute UK special events, working closely with specialists, marketing, client strategy, partnerships, operations, IT/AV and others to identify business needs
• Agree process with key stakeholders, to include Best Practice and Blueprints for Christie’s Event programme
• Collaborate with operations to manage relationships with all Event Suppliers
• Work with Marketing to agree and create invitations and other collateral to promote the Event
• To effectively manage the relationship with internal catering and /or other suppliers, chefs / caterers.
• To be the main point of contact for Zkipster, our digital RSVP and check-in system, to manage any problems and ensure adequate training for the team.
• To plan and implement an effective Corporate Hire manual to be used for corporate hire requests.
• To ensure that all events data is captured appropriately and in line with GDPR regulations.
• To work with Stakeholders to create events and contracts where required for Third Parties
• To ensure that all events managers are adequately trained to manage their own event budgets
Team Management
• To lead, manage and develop the UK Events Team, including the UK Event Leads, Event Consultants, Butler and Apprentices
• Host Event scheduling meetings to maintain monthly calendar, liaising with counterparts in EMEA.
• To develop and implement Event training collateral and programmes in London and also to the EMEA Event Deliverers.
• To ensure the UK Events team are able to assist the EMEA regional event deliverers on larger projects as required e.g. Basel Art Fair Engagement, Venice Biennale
• To manage Executive hospitality within Christie’s King Street.
What you’ll bring to the team:
• General knowledge of the auction industry, art market and events industry
• Proactive and enthusiastic with excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills and the ability to adapt confidently to all social settings
• Articulate and confident with a high level of attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills
• A team player with the ability to work at senior management level and deliver exceptional client service
• Leadership skills and ability to crisis manage
• Experienced in online events with a background in enablement, product marketing, content marketing or training
• Ability to manage a team
• Proven background in event budget management
