- Responsible for understanding the overall strategic priorities of the business and Procurements objectives to ensure Procurement processes and policies align to the business.
- Manage a customer focused, centralised team providing Procurement Operations knowledge and expertise to the wider business.
- Define Centre of Excellence purpose and strategy alongside businesses requirements to set clear, measurable goals and scope of work, aligning to Procurement objectives.
- Take responsibility for the Enterprise Supplier Policy, ensure continuous monitoring across all MUs and lead reporting for both LRPO and ERPO activity on behalf of the Procurement Director.
- Ensure information and regular Procurement training is available to all stakeholders and is regularly reviewed and updated.
- Promote Procurement internally and externally to share value and benefits driven by the team. Co-ordinate the management of regular, planned Procurement Communications through a variety of channels to ensure the business stakeholders are aware of Procurement processes and systems.
- Facilitate support and training and ensure the systems and processes are followed as per policies.
- Responsible for MI and reporting, accurately reflecting the control environment across all aspects of Procurement and third party risk management. Providing consistent, analytics, data and reporting to both the internal Procurement team and the business via the Heads of Procurement.
- Set the SLAs and KPIs for the Procurement Department and report on performance.
- Own and manage all Procurement Systems to ensure accessibility to users and maintain systems to ensure systems meet the enterprise access standards
- Champion ESG to drive change and increased adoption of ESG as a focus in Bupa’s supply chain, within Procurement and through Bupa’s third-party suppliers and Scope 3 activities.
- A proven Policy, Risk and Governance background, with experience in managing supplier assurance and risk management frameworks.
- Demonstrate comprehension of the requirements set out in the FCA (SYSC 8/13) and PRA handbook and their requirements to 3rd party expenditure.
- Ability to drive the strategic direction of a central operations team
- MCIPS qualified or have equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to demonstrate management experience in similar roles.
- Strong communicator with self & social awareness
- Customer orientated with the ability to sell ideas
- Enable creative thinking across teams and support problem solving
- A willingness to challenge and be challenged
- Ability to shape policy, process and procedures and make it relevant
- An appetite to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrable, strong experience of defining procurement strategy and requirements as well as a track record of working on a number of cross-functional projects.
- Comprehensive analytical & reporting expertise with the ability to lead risk management on behalf of Procurement.
- Robust, resilient, and diplomatic.
- Capacity to deal with a wide range of stakeholders with conflicting priorities.

The Head of Procurement – Centre of Excellence is a key strategic role within the Procurement Leadership team.
The purpose of the role is to set the overall strategy and direction for all Procurement governance, risk, policy, ESG, reporting and associated operational support services.
Taking a strategic view of Procurement, the Head of Procurement Centre of Excellence will constantly seek new ways to optimise and refine the Procurement model to support our business customers and ensure alignment to the wider organisation.
