Project Management qualification (or equivalent)
Significant experience in programme/project management, with a consistent track record
Significant experience across several Business/IT Transformation Programmes, establishing and managing governance within those programmes
Evidence of establishing programme methodologies and working with/adapting methodologies from different sources as required
Experience of working with System Integrators, in partnership, to meet common goals through establishing clear governance and ways of working
Demonstrate strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence others to achieve objectives
Experience of operating within defined business strategies and influencing the key partners of the vision for the business area
Evidence of leading and developing innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation
Strong networking/consulting skills with good internal/external links
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language and in alignment with AZ business
Managing, developing and leading a team of people in different locations
Consistent track record in delivering high risk programme/projects and decision making in an enterprise transformation environment
Validated skills and experience of controlling large budgets
Ability to convince and lead negotiations across a complex group

The role of Head of Programme Management Office (PMO) S/4HANA will make a vital contribution to the success of the programme. The change is on a scale never seen in AZ before – the core processes we will be transforming cover the entire supply chain, from clinical supply to collecting the cash from our customers. It will change all the processes that engage with vendors and customers, all forecasting, planning and reporting both in internally and externally, in finance and operations. We will be introducing capabilities not currently available to AZ and will impact the daily jobs over 1 in 4 AZ staff.
For this role, we're looking for someone with vision, energy and an understanding of an elite Project & Programme Management. You will work hand-in-glove with the programme’s Extended Leadership Team to help establish the strategy to deliver unprecedented scale of transformation with AstraZeneca.
Initially focused on creating the Project Management Strategy, Framework and Methodology for the programme, the role will build a central Programme Management Office for S/4HANA and be responsible for developing an impactful team integral to the successful execution of the programme. The role is responsible for managing the programme governance processes, including preparing the agenda and content for Steerco, SET and Board Interactions.
The programme will last up to 8 years, so any initiatives must be sustainable and have the AZ future aspiration in mind, there is a great opportunity to leave a legacy in this role. Close working relations with the BAU teams - in particular Global Business Services (GBS) is a must.
What you'll do:
Designs, develops and deploys consistent Programme & Project Management Methodology for the Programme (driving the integration of SAP Activate with AstraZeneca methodologies including PMF, ADF and CMF) with endorsement from the Program leadership.
Responsible for communication, training and adoption of S/4 PM Methodology
Manages the PMO resources deployed into each Enterprise Process team
Reports to the Chief Operating Officer, on a regular basis, ensuring the status of the programme is clearly defined across key areas such as time, scope, cost, resource and quality.
Work collaboratively with key “deployed” functions within the S/4 programme (in particular IT PMO, Change & Comms, Finance, HR & Enterprise BA teams) to ensure a sustainable approach to the delivery of work across the programme
Offers the highest level of technical expertise in project management, project planning and methodologies
Establishes and maintains relationships with key senior/executive partners within AZ to ensure understanding and commitment to project objectives, and development and refinement of project results
Ensures clarity on programme deliverables and responsibilities at all stages within the programme lifecycle, via the methodology established
Drives the definition and allocation of project management resources at different stages of the programme
Provides internal project management assurance through quality gate reviews and post implementation evaluations and reviews high-level deliverables across business areas. Ensures engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures take place for all programme activities.
Co-operates with internal and external auditors as required, with regards to audits of the programme, co-ordinating interaction as required within the programme
Provides direction, leadership and decision-making to programme/project teams in the areas of governance, quality and delivery.
Operates with senior project leads & managers working on projects across the programme.
Works closely with the programme CFO in managing the 3rd parties on the programme, particularly the BI/SI and programme assurance providers.
Manages interdependencies with external programmes and ensures co-ordination of workstreams
Takes ownership, for the programme governance and methodology to ensure the successful implementation of the programme and sub projects.
Manages S/4 Steering Committee and ELT expectations in line with project requirements.
Contributes to the streamlined transition of programme delivery into business areas via the programme governance and methodology to and ensures controlled hand-overs to users and business as usual processes
