- Provide visible and effective leadership for the Trust wide delivery of the Risk Strategy and the risk management framework, with a focus on developing and embedding the Trust's risk maturity.
- Provide Senior leadership and professional responsibility and accountability for risk management, ensuring there are robust interfaces with key clinical, non-clinical, corporate and external stakeholders throughout the process.
- Responsible for the architect of risk governance across the Trust, and for the effectiveness of all risk reporting across the Trust. This will include reporting to the Trust's most Senior Managers, including the Board.
- Ensure that risks are escalated onto the Board Assurance Framework as required and support effective reporting of BAF risks to the Board.
- Keeping up to date with current corporate governance frameworks and arrangements, to ensure legal compliance and best practice in risk management.
- Support the Board in developing and maintaining risk appetite and embedding a risk-driven culture of continuous development.
- Design and execute Board development sessions clearly driving the maturity of the organisational approach to Risk.
- Lead in the continuous review and implementation of the Trust's Risk Management Policy to ensure that it is patient focused and relevant in light of operational changes, legislation or regulatory requirements.

- Be the lead contact for any and all audits relating to risk management. Lead on recommendations and actions included in the annual internal audit report.
- Work alongside Executives to ensure Directorate risks are relevant and contemporaneous.
- Provide leadership and support to the Trusts Risk Assurance Group (RAG) to ensure the group is effective in managing risks for the Trust and escalate any concerns from RAG in line with its Terms of Reference.
- Provide expert support to the senior leadership team, executive and trust board, ensuring ongoing adherence to the principles set out in Risk Management Policy.
- Minimise risk through working with Trust staff, including critically analysing adverse incidents, root cause analysis and identification of trends and prepare written reports and making recommendations for action as appropriate.
- Promote a learning culture within the Trust which acknowledges the benefits of patient safety and effective risk management to provide a safe environment and reducing risk of harm to staff, patients, carers and visitors.
- Attend Management Group meetings to support risk reviews.
- Keep updated on national and local risk and patient safety developments, ensuring appropriate implementation of best practice.
- Attend System-wide collaborations/forums to present risks requiring a risk-sharing approach, leading on multi-agency task and finish groups as required to develop meaningful risk sharing processes
